WOYWW #29 (227) - Making Progress

Happy Wednesday!

(Dare I say, "It's HUMP DAY!" out loud? Didn't know about the Geico commercial until after a trip through a McDonald's drive thru one morning...my children were happy to educate me with the remix. Lucky me. lol)

Another edition of WOYWW...check it out, so you can play along or just peek at everyone's creative places! There is so much eye candy to be had!

Here are a few pictures of the studio. I've stolen a few moments to do a card or two, but can't wait to get back to creating every day!

Thanks to my favorite guy I've got pegboard, rails and shelves up! Still a mess, but now it's more of an organized mess! Way easier to attempt a project when I have an idea of where the supply/tool is...

The rails + buckets are working great to sort tools & embellishments.

My friend, Donna, inspired the design for my twine 'board'. Thanks!

Command Hooks + *cheap* Dry Erase Board = Color Coordinated Storage | LOVE

Looking forward to being able to share details and more of what's working for me next week. Fingers crossed there might even be a project or two!

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #28 (217) Studio Before Pictures

Whoa!
Fell off the wagon
and rolled into the ditch!

It's been awhile since I've played along with WOYWW...(I wonder how many of my last woyww posts start out with something like that?!) Glad to see that Julia Dunnit, the Queen of Peek is still at it!

In fact, it's been awhile since I've played in the studio at all.

I really thought I'd have the studio up and running weeks ago.

Silly me.

There's been the unpacking, family visits and family visiting, Boy Scout camp, birthdays and all the activities associated with moving to a new state and the selling and buying of 2 houses. Ugh.

Thankfully, we are done with the houses and beginning to settle in a bit.

There are still about a dozen boxes to be unpacked. Mostly house items and out of season clothing...we think. The movers marked the boxes with what the majority of the contents were, but there were A LOT of boxes marked with the main item, but filled with lots of something else. For instance, my antique typewriter was marked on the box (it was located near the family room in the old house) but the majority of the box was my husband's t-shirts (definitely not in the family room!)

Sigh.

I am making progress. I do love the room. Lots.

Want to see what I've been up to? Obviously, these are the BEFORE shots...the AFTER shots are still in the making, a work in progress! lol

Sorting out the contents of the boxes...lots of boxes.

The only item officially hung up is the clock. My main desk is buried in the middle of the room. Can't wait to get the pegboard framed and hung up. Then the real organizing of the workspace begins!

The Workbench - where most of the actual creating happens.

paper, stamps, light table, stuff & more stuff

got milk?
My family drinks a lot of milk. At least the cartons came in handy! Originally, I had saved them to use for mini books, but they were the perfect size for paints, mists, stamps, punches...you get the idea!

Putting things in places, but I suspect it will be a couple of months of use before I really get my workflow figured out in the new room.

Thanks for stopping by!

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #27 (182) - Less of a Mess!

WOYWW!!!
Read more about Julia Dunnit's craft space community on her blog.

It's still Wednesday, so I'm doing pretty good...

Hi.
My name is Angi.
It's been more than 30 days since my last WOYWW post.

Whew. I feel so much better getting that off my creative desk! ;)

Now comes the sharing...so, the last time I posted you got to see my messy work area. Well, part of the work area...my main workbench which was covered in stuff. So much stuff, I wasn't even sure what was there! And I didn't show you the floor...you can see that post HERE.

(Does anyone else take pictures of their desks with the intention of actually linking & posting to WOYWW...but somehow it doesn't happen?! I was just perusing my WOYWW photos and realized I have quite a few more photos than posts!)

Okay...on to the pictures!

Yep, it's a bit messy, but I know exactly what is on the desk because it was clean prior to my project...
(I  didn't think to take a before picture until just now.)

Still not showing much of the floor, but the fact is you can see it & I can actually walk on it!

Here's a peek of the project I was working on.
You can see the rest of it HERE
(along with a blog hop & prizes! Ends 11/30)

Okay. I'm going to be late to the school to pick up the kiddos, if I don't hit the 'publish' button right now...

I can't wait to sit down this evening and visit the other crafty spaces. Thanks for stopping by for a peek!

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #26 (177) - A Mess & A Card

Gasp! It's been 4 months since I've posted a What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday...I had to do a search to find my last WOYWW pictures! (It was a good one...Anniversary ATC reveal.) I have missed  visiting Miss Julia Dunnit in all her queenly craftiness...and those that follow her. Sigh. Be sure to visit the WOYWW posts for a lovely adventure into crafty spaces. (You know you can't just visit one!)

Lately, the time I've had in the studio has been late at night, working mostly on design team projects. As soon as the project's done it's time to take pictures, edit, write the post, then sleep, get up and go to work the next morning. Not a lot of time lately to clean up...proof in the pictures:

The good news is that I'm still making stuff.

Thanks to my sweet hubby who takes care of dinner on those nights (sometimes with help from the awesome kiddos that reside here!)

Tomorrow "clean flat surfaces in the studio" is a priority!

I'm looking forward to reorganizing. The weather has turned cold and I'm feeling the need to clear space for holiday projects!

Here's a card that came from the mess that I created for the Card Makin' Mamas Challenge Blog...

The front of the pop up card.
The bat is embossed. Love that Smash tape.

Sigh. Yes, the pop up is a little crooked. Another late night project/photo/edit. Didn't catch it in this photo. Obviously.

Close up of the clear embossed bat.

More Smash tape. It makes me happy.

This is Digital Delights Vampire Pippin. A not crooked pop up. The cobwebs are clear embossed, too.

It's 2300. That's 11:30pm. Time for me to get to the sleep portion of my day!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #25 (157) - Anniversary ATC Reveal

SPOILER ALERT: If you want your ATC to be a surprise, STOP! I reveal pictures of my WOYWW 3rd Anniversary ATC after the desk pictures below...

Happy Wednesday - it's the after party for the WOYWW 3rd Anniversary ATC swap - woohoo! I'm looking forward to blog hopping and peeking into all that crafty yumminess. I wasn't able to get to every desk last WOYWW, but I'm going to give it a try again, this week!

Here's my desk...unusually clean for me. I'm getting ready to start an online class and I need to have space to work! loll

A few things you'll find on the old desk this week:
...WHITE post-it notes (got almost 70% off on these babies - can't wait to use them!)
...wooden ice cream spoons
...Melody Ross chipart alphas
and...

...my mouse with a strip of Smash tape!

Decorating my electronics started out of necessity to keep from mixing up laptops & gadgets around the house, but when I discovered the washi tape did not interfere with the touch controls...all bets were off! When I need a change, I just whip off the old stuff and put on some new - love it!

Okay...here comes my ATC! Isn't this little angel adorable?
(I downloaded this image from the Graphics Fairy. Sorry I closed the window before I remembered to grab the weblink. You can search for her on the website.)

Ta da! Here's the whole tag.
There's lots of marbled shimmer on the background - hard to photograph, but trust me it's there!

I had a great time making these little bits! Inks, shimmer sprays, crackle stuff and one of my first Ali Edwards stamps.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you saw something you liked and had a chance to leave a comment, so I can visit you!

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #24 (156) - 3rd Anniversary Edition!

Thanks to the lovely Julia, once a week you can visit her blog and have access to tons of creative spaces. There's lots of great inspiration for your space and even projects, new blogs you'll love...and when you get over 'no one wants to see my messy desk' syndrome, link up YOUR creative space, so we can visit you!

To help celebrate, she's hosting an ATC swap. Stop by her blog to see what I'm talking about or to sign up and make sure to leave her some comment love!

For those of you WOYWWers swapping more than one, I would love to swap with you, too! Email me with your snail mail address:
makingmayhem {at} gmail {dot} com
and I will get an ATC out to you!

So, I've been hanging out with the WOYWW crowd on and off since January 2011. Click HERE to see my first WOYWW post! Things were a little different...still messy (LOL), but I've done a little reorganizing since then...

Here's the desk, picture taken this morning:

Messy will always be a part of my creative mayhem...that's okay with me! A few things you may find...

...those pink buttons are from an old DKNY shirt
...Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions sprays
...Mentos (needed a temporary change from chocolate)
...bits & pieces of an ATC swap *wink*
...some new 'dollar' stamps from my LSS

Can't wait to make the rounds this week! I'll reveal my ATC next WOYWW...until then happy sightseeing!

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #23 (153) - Happy Mother's Day!

Happy What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday on this Sunday - Mother's Day!

To WOYWW women everywhere...thank you for your love, support and generosity. I have loved visiting your blogs to peek into your wonderful creative spaces, share in your artful endeavors and to read your sweet comments.

Thank you, Julia. Can't wait to help celebrate another WOYWW anniversary in just a couple of weeks or so!

To the women who share my life...thank you. I appreciate how blessed I am to know you - whether you live on my street, met you on Facebook or through your blog or mine -  so many women who stand up for what they believe in, fight for those they love and always give more than they receive.

I am continuously counting my blessings. Thank you.

I know I'm really late for WOYWW, but at least I made it before the next one! lol

Here's a picture of the work desk...16 swap cards, 2 projects, & 25 Mother's Day projects later (assembled and delivered)...

and a peek of the Mother's Day project...

Stop by Monday to see the whole project...I've already scheduled the post! ;)

Angi

WOYWW #22 (152) - Creative Chaos

Hello! Can you believe it's already Wednesday and time for another peek into my creative mess?! Today's a busy day...working on design team projects, studying, taking pictures for a Mother's Day project, going through some of the creative chaos at an attempt to organize and purge (I think I hear my family laughing hysterically at the 'p' word...) and somehow in the midst of my crazy Life I will make time this week to stop a moment, grab a hot chocolate and enjoy visiting my WOYWW friends...

(Thank you for the advice and the lovely comments last week! I really appreciate the feedback. If I haven't been by to visit you, yet, please know I will make it over this week - pinky promise!)

All thanks to Miss Julia Dunnit who shares her craftiness with a side of wit. Please visit Julia, if you want to know more about What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday...you know we want to see where you create!

Enough of the chatter...here's my desk...in all the messy glory!

This is the aftermath of a few projects, a project in progress... Serious clean up is scheduled for this evening...I'm going to need the space to work on my Mother's Day project...reveal after Mother's Day...don't want to spoil the surprise!

Anyone taking the "Your Living Canvas" workshop with Christy Tomlinson? I am! She's having some great giveaways for the person who signed up and the person who referred them...so if you decide to sign up after checking out this link, please mention that you were sent by me, Angela Crandall...and don't forget to leave me a comment, too. Thanks! Hope to see you in the classroom!

Happy Wednesday!

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #21 (151) - Back on the Wagon!

It has been awhile since I've shown you my 'desk' and I sure have missed peeking in on other creative hideaways!

In fact, it's been months since I've participated in Julia's WOYWW...I think the last post was in November...of last year... but I've decided it is time to get back on the crafty wagon and start posting, again!

I've been cleaning up the work areas, so I can get to some messy playing and sharing real soon! (Check back tomorrow for a design team project!) It's time to get dirty! ;)

While I have you here I could use a little help...my Google Friend Connect widget doesn't work on my blog (even though it has a Blogspot address and according to Google it should still be viable...) and I was wondering what others have been using instead of GFC to help their readers stay connected, if anything. I've even been considering a blog move to Wordpress, so this won't happen again! Would appreciate a little feedback, recommendations, etc... thanks so much!

Happy Wednesday!

Inky hugs,
Angi

Where's the WOYWW?!

Sharing a little good news...

Don't have time to write up a proper post right now, but thought you might like to know you'll see more Great Impressions projects here at Making Mayhem...

I'll catch you up soon.

WOYWW #20 (130) - after the Twilight

Hello, WOYWWers! The last one for November...catching up on blogging, so if you want to see the desk, scroll down...if you'd like to see more desks visit Julia's Stamping Ground. So much crafty goodness to see!

Another week (or so) has flown by! Thanksgiving was wonderful. Love having my kids and the Mister home all at the same time. Was so busy loving everyone I hardly took any pictures. It was a gorgeous lazy day. Too bad that was so short lived!

A Crandall Clan tradition...bathing the turkey...bwahahaha!
So, daughter came home for Turkey Day and brought a guest. Since she'll be home for Christmas she decided to leave me some fur...meow!

Goofy grin...that's what love does to you!
I wasn't real keen on having another critter in the house, but he is just so cuddly! Every time I sit down at my desk, he makes himself at home in my lap. He's quickly becoming part of the clan.

This week I'm finishing up some gifts and hopefully getting some festive decor up!

Until then, here's what is currently on ye olde desk:

Not a lot...yet! Leftovers from several weeks worth of projects. Cleaning up the studio in prep for some hardcore crafting...

Some recently finished projects:
- kits for my "Twilight Inspired Mini Album" All of the satin flowers are handmade. (This was originally a class that included a keepsake box. Loved the DCWV Immortal Love line! Gave the original mini sample to my daughter for her birthday and left it simple for her to add to.)

Can't wait for tomorrow...
♥ Great Impressions Stamp of the Month release
♥ December 1st - the beginning of December Daily & Journal Your Christmas! (I'm participating in both this year.)

I'll share my December Daily in upcoming posts. Are you participating, too? If so, make sure to leave your link!

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #19 (128) - Hello, Birdy!

Hello, WOYWWers! I've been away for a bit, being busy, of course, but made a little time this morning...and I do mean morning! It's almost 3am...to share a little fun. (If you'd like to know more about WOYWW...and we know you do! Stop by and say hi! to Julia. You'll be glad you did!

So, there's the desk. Bits and pieces from my Twilight Inspired Mini Album (kits will be available for the mini album at Simple Pleasures very soon!)

And can you believe it? I've got another quick picture to share...this is one of the cards from my last Great Impressions - Beyond the Board class. What do you think? Click on it to see more detail. This is a center step card - love this design! If you made it just a tad larger, you could use it for the holiday photo! Frame/card/display all in one. Very handy.

There are 2 more Great Impressions cards and a lovely set of tags using Memory Box's La Rue Die to share later this week, so stop back by and see them, too!

Happy Wednesday!

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #16 (117) - Fairies & the Wash

The desk. It's current. Probably the cleanest it has been in awhile! It's been a chaotic mess lately with me not being able to work on anything prior to 2100. By the time I make any progress on a project, there's not much energy left for clean up!

Want a closer look of the Outlines Rubber Stamps - Mini Fairy Circle? Go HERE to my previous post. She's darling. We're coloring this stamp in my Color Me Copics class at Simple Pleasures.

My most recent class was "Apronista" where we altered a canvas apron. I love messy art! This was a great group of creative women! Look for pictures of my apron and some of the ones made in class on Monday.

When I was putting the class together I wanted to have samples of all of the current Tim Holtz Adirondack Color Washes, so I would know what they looked like dry on muslin. Here are the fabric swatches. Loved them so much I decided they needed a prominent spot in my studio...it's a little washline of rainbow!

(This also shows a few of my most used tools: ATG 700 (spray painted metallic red!), Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher, Crop-a-dile punch, Corner Chomper, Texture Hammers...these are a few of my favorite things!)

Happy dance!

Need more WOYWW? Visit Julia's blog for the full list of participants for this week (and week's past in previous posts!) Be sure to leave a little comment love for her and the blogs you visit. Would love to have you join us in this parade of creative coves!

Until next time...

Inky hugs,
Angi

A Preview of WOYWW #16 (117) - Fairies & the Wash

Wanted to actually post my WOYWW this morning, but the time has gotten away from me! So, here's a peek until tonight.

Have a great Hump Day!

WOYWW #15 (116) - Twilight Inspired

I know it's been awhile since I've participated in WOYWW. I have missed it! (Check out Julia Dunnit's Blog, if you'd like to know more.)

This shot isn't yesterday, but pretty recent. After the fiasco with my camera, I was pretty reluctant to blog without a photo, but that's since been remedied (more on that later!) I've been busy, busy, busy!

School's been in session for most of this month, been busy with work and teaching at Simple Pleasures (Apronista Class photos coming soon!) Thought I'd do a quick share of my desk and what I've been up to.

This is a peek of my desk as I was prepping my class sample for an upcoming class at Simple Pleasures - Twilight Inspired Keepsake Box and Mini Album. I'll be sure to share more photos! I have lots to share, just not enough time to share them, just yet, but hang in there with me...I've got more crafty goodness!

Enjoy this week's WOYWW and I'll see you soon!

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #14 (111) Summer Blues

Miracles. That's what I need. How about you? A little more time, money, better health, more summer, less heat...not complaining (well, maybe a tiny bit) but as usual Life is happening around here. Lots of it. Broken bones, family illnesses, moving/not moving, vacations, working, creating, making stuff. Busy.

No recent posts or pictures since my camera lens was broken a few weeks ago. No one is taking the credit on this one! The camera accompanied a few to the Ren Fest and came home worse for the wear.

Oh well. No use crying over a dropped lens, right? (okay...I might have cried...a lot, but I'm over it now...sniff...really) Irony is that as I was surveying the damage I was thinking "Too bad I can't get a photo of this mess!"

Can't have a WOYWW blog post without a few pictures, so here's my desk from...well, I'm not really sure...decorated with a fabulous vintage haul from a local thrift store. I think I paid about $3.00 for all of it.

Seam binding, rick rack, lace, buttons, fasteners...already finding their way onto creations of paper and paint.

Didn't realize how much I used my favorite memory recorder until it was gone. It's difficult to share what I'm working on, if I can't get a decent picture!

Sigh.

Trying to make do with the other lens. Not working so well, although I think the kids think it's amusing to see me straddling bar stools, climbing onto tables and chairs to take simple shots.

Hoping to get a new lens of some sort soon. Until then here's a quick memory before the Humpty Dumpty Incident...this silly picture was taken during an impromptu 'photo session' in the bathroom with the kids a few months ago. Me, them, dry erase markers and the camera.

I absolutely love letting the kids become the photographer. So do they.

Inky hugs,
Angi

WOYWW #13 (104) - 2nd Anniversary!

Happy 2nd Anniversary WOYWWers! This is only my 13th WOYWW post, so really this is a celebration of all those work desk post vets who have been hangin' with Mrs. Julia Dunnit, crafty lady who began these Wednesday forays into other people's creative lairs, over the last two years, inspiring and encouraging by visiting and leaving lovely comments. If you haven't already, stop by her blog Stamping Ground and see what all the fun is about!

This is what I love about the internet collective...being able to connect with those of you that share the passion of creating from the inside out...and sometimes the outside in when our muse has taken an unexpected vacation.

I've been MIA for the last couple of weeks (obviously) with birthdays, work, card swaps and family (though not in that order.) I even (ahem!) sewed a couple of hooded baby towels for a friend (pictures and tutorial coming soon! I know...I owe a few of those: paper towel flowers, plastic wrap misting...they're coming!) Just when I thought the schedule would slow down a bit with the kiddos out of school, it's like someone hit the fast forward button while I was in the ladies' room! No rest for the weary...but still here, slowly moving forward.

Maybe not so much on the studio, right? (That's why there isn't an 'after' photo, yet...)

I always notice little details after I upload my photo(s) for WOYWW...3 pairs of scissors?, tweeting while I work, I'm sure there's chocolate wrappers hiding in the picture (Lindt dark chocolate truffles)...

This is the desk a few days ago while I was taking a break from making cards for the card exchange at Simple Pleasures. The theme for May was "Cards for Him" and I decided to do something fun. At least it was fun until I had to fussy cut 10 of those cute jeeps!

Here's the finished card...

{ETA: I was inspired by Corrine's design seen HERE.}

I used a few techniques that I really enjoy...coloring with Copics, embossing and watercoloring with Distress Inks. The twill tape was a fab find at the thrift store...$1.50 for a wheel that measures 9 inches in diameter!

Thanks for stopping by today. I sure have missed you! Now I'm off to link up with Julia and add my name to the PiF list! I'll show what I made for my 'pressie' soon!

Happy June!

Angi
