Globecraft & Piccolo - Art Journal of Peculiar Events

Welcome to the first Friday of October!

Today I have another Halloween creation to share - this time an altered journal! Simple color scheme, themed Piccolo Accents and a bit of bling and patterned paper make this a quick project. See the bottom of this post for the supplies!

Love how easy it is to shape the Bling on a Roll to my project...and, of course, the sparkle...

That shiny, glittery shape is a ghost!

What a great Halloween tree, right?! See the 'staining' on the Accents? Coat the shapes with Glastique and when it's almost dry, use a foam blender and Distress Ink over the piece. The areas that are not quite dry will absorb the ink!

Make time to craft this weekend!

Globecraft & PIccolo - Halloween "Believe" Pendant & Earrings

T.G.I.F. (Thank Goodness It's Fun day!)

The holiday season is coming up fast...before you know it Halloween will be here and we will be working our way through to Christmas and New Year's!

Today I have a FUN jewelry set using a package of Piccolo Accents and a few Embossing Enamel Powders.

To make the earrings and pendant, you will need a few items from the G&P shop:
enamel Powder Adhesive Fluid
3D Enamel Gel: Mars Black
Glastique, Gloss

scrap of paper, copy/patterned/plain - your choice

The key to this project is to be patient when building the layers. You don't want finger prints or peaks in your melted enamels!

Begin by covering the peacock feathers with the Starry Sky. When cool, use a small paintbrush to to coat just the 'eye' portion of the feather. Using a small scoop (slushee straws work great for this!) add the Royal Sterling just to the middle. When cool, attach earring hoops and rings to connect the feathers.

The pendant was made by building several layers of Starry Sky (I did 3 layers.) Now add the Royal Sterling randomly, covering a majority of the circle. Don't worry if the Royal Sterling seems too solid after it melts. Just stick with me! Do NOT clip off the hanging circle, yet. It comes in handy as a handle when you are melting the powders and adding things. Clip it AFTER you are finished with the enamel powders. You're welcome.

When you add the Ultra Thick Clear, the magic starts...it will start to move the other colors around as you heat the powders. Keep repeating the layers until you are happy with the results.

When you are finished, write (or stamp) the sentiment on sticker paper, scrap of patterned paper, copy paper...whatever you prefer. Heat up the pendant and when it's warm, use the side of the tip of the tweezers to very gently push the sentiment into the melted enamel.  I LOVE how the paper turned transulcent.

Just for fun I used the Mars Black on the tiny bat (click on the picture for a better look!)

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to follow and 'like' the G&P Facebook page to stay up to date with new releases and design team inspiration!

Globecraft & Piccolo - Beautiful Ride Altered Paintbrush

Have you seen the newest Globecraft & Piccolo release? Fun summer designs, gorgeous labels and flourishes! Today I'm sharing a few of the Accents from the Amusement Park Rides set on an altered paintbrush.

Here's what you'll need from the G&P shop:
3D Enamel Gels: Daffodil PearlOrangeRose PearlTitanium WhiteTurquoise
Embossing Enamels: Aged WhiteMermaid Tears
Glastique, Gloss

Other Supplies:
paintbrush
white gesso
white modeling paste
small alphabet stamps
glue gun
flowers
scraps of fabric, twine or ribbon

My local art store had chip brushes on sale and I stocked up - just for an occasion such as this! You could also use an old brush, too. The older the paint, the more character, right?

Paint the handle with a couple of coats of gesso. You don't have to worry about being neat. Just get it done!

Next, I mixed a bit of the Turquoise 3D Enamel Gel with some modeling paste. Dab it on randomly, creating colored textured. Let dry.

Using the 3D Enamel Gels, add more color to the handle. (I used a foam brush and a cotton swab.) Let dry between colors. (Layer away! The gels are translucent, so overlapping the colors is highly recommended!)

Use the gels to 'color' the Accents. After they are dry, coat with a layer of Glastique.

While you wait for the Accents to dry, melt the Embossing Enamels here and there over the handle and the brush bristles.

For ease and time, I used a glue gun to attach all of the embellishments to the paintbrush.

Stamp and distress the words. Trim and adhere.

I hope you enjoyed today's project! Be sure and stop by again for more G&P inspiration!

Inky hugs,
Angi

Globecraft & Piccolo - DIY Glow in the Dark Galaxy Pendant

So many crafts, so little time...

It's a good thing you can make your very own Glow in the Dark Galaxy Pendant in less than an hour!

Here's what you'll need from the G&P shop:

optional items:

glow in the dark acrylic paint
old toothbrush or paint brush

This is unbelievably easy!

The basic technique is to sprinkle on small amounts of Enamel Powder and heat. Keep adding Enamel Powders while the surface is still warm, heat and repeat until the desired effect is achieved. Then cool completely and cover with your choice of finish.

It's always good to have a before and after picture of a craft, but it's GREAT to have pictures of the process...so here you go! I've included what colors I used when and any tips I learned along the way.

Start by peeling the blue liner off of only one side of the acrylic charm. (Carefully use the tip of the tweezers to lift the edge of the liner.) This will keep the backside clean until you're done.

Cover the surface of the charm with the Enamel Powder Adhesive Fluid. Sprinkle on the Micro Black. Heat. While still warm, add more Micro Black. Heat. Repeat one more time. (The picture below is after the first layer was heated.)

Using a small scoop (Trimmed slurpee/slush straws are great for this!) add bits of Vintage Copper. Heat.

Add Deep Blue Sky. Heat.

Add Royal Sterling. Heat.

Add Micro White. Heat.

Add Poodle Skirt. Heat.

Add Deep Blue Sky. Heat.

Continue to add Enamel Powders until you love what you see. Heat. Let cool.

If you want the cool glow in the dark stars (is that really a question?!), dip the toothbrush bristles into the glow in the dark paint and run your fingernail across them to splatter 'stars' on the pendant Practice on a scrap of dark paper first, so you can see what the splatter pattern looks like. Let dry.

Finish by topping off with Enamel Powder Ultra Thick Clear, Glastique or Instant UV Resin.

It will be even better in person. Trust me.

Inky hugs,
Angi

Globecraft & PIccolo - Summer Lovin' Altered Phone Stand

Showcasing a favorite picture with Globecraft & Piccolo Enamel Powders and Accents is easy! Especially if you have picked up an inexpensive cell phone stand that is in desperate need of a makeover!

Here's what you'll need from the G&P Shop:

Other supplies:
EP "party mix"
("party mix" is any leftover Enamel Powder that couldn't go back into the original container because it got 'contaminated' with another color or glitter. I mix these together in my "party mix" jar.)
cell phone stand
Tim Holtz hinge clip

Not a lot of steps for this project. Trim and adhere your patterned paper to the stand. Make sure to smooth out any wrinkles. Squeeze a tiny amount of Glastique onto a plastic lid, add a tiny bit of water and cover the paper. Let dry.

Working on one area at a time, use the Enamel Adhesive on the crown. Sprinkle on your EP "party mix" and melt. Add more layers of "party mix" while still warm. (Remember - if your phone stand is metal it will get HOT as you heat it.) The crown has 3 layers of "party mix."

While still warm, sprinkle Mermaid Tears over the crown. Heat and then let cool.

Do the same for the bottom lip of the stand.

When the stand is cool, adhere accents and bling using Glastique. Adhere hinge clip using E600.

That's it! Add a favorite photo and display!

Inky hugs,
Angi

Globecraft & PIccolo - Stellar Dressform Altered Notebook

Happy Monday!

Today I have a "Stellar" project to share with you. I am a list maker and always in need of another cute notebook to write the funny things my kids say, project ideas, my to-do list, etc. With a few Accents and some Embossing Enamel, you can have a fun notepad, too!

Here's what you'll need from the shop:

Globecraft & Piccolo supplies:
Vintage Dressforms Accents (A125) - dressform & large flourish

other supplies:
pocket notepad (3"x5")
word sticker (American Crafts)
ribbon, black
tulle, bits of white
script text patterned paper (Bo Bunny)

This is the before shot of the notepad. I love the black and white color scheme. The zebra pattern...not so much. Carefully bend both of the end wires, so you can 'unscrew' the coil from the paper. Hang onto the coil, if you want to use it again.

Trace the cover onto the back of your patterned paper. (I traced the holes and used the small hole on the Crop-a-dile to punch through the paper.) Randomly sprinkle Poodle Skirt and heat. Let cool.

Using the Enamel Powder Adhesive, 'ink' up your dressform and both flourishes. Sprinkle on Micro Black. Heat and repeat at least one more time. (I dipped and heated 3 times.)

Time to put it all together! Twist the coil back into place. Using Glastique, adhere all of the Accents. Adhere ribbon and tulle. Apply word sticker. Done!

These are so quick to make. I have a few more teacher gifts to make and you can be sure these notebooks will be included!

Inky hugs,
Angi

Globecraft & Piccolo - Altered Postcard "Fly" Tutorial

[edited to add: find the how-to video below!]

Happy Monday, Friends!

This week I have a fun project  - an altered postcard using Globecraft & Piccolo Embossing Enamels, Gel and Piccolo Accents. You can use an actual postcard or cut your own bases from cereal boxes, chipboard or even just cardstock. Remember when I suggested you keep all the bits and pieces you weed from the main Piccolo Accents?

(I actually took video while I created this postcard (having some difficulties uploading the video), so keep an eye out for an update to this post and WATCH how this project came together! )

Gather your supplies and watch for the update. You may surprised at how easy this is!

Globecraft & Piccolo supplies:
Enamel Powder Adhesive Fluid
Embossing Enamel Temple Stone
Embossing Enamel Vintage Copper
3D Enamel Gel - Satin Gold
Glastique Gloss
*Leftover bits from French Oval Frame Kit

other supplies:
Distress Ink - Vintage Photo
Archival Ink - Jet Black
Adirondack Color Wash - Cranberry
Tattered Angels Chalk Sprays - Banana Pudding, Peacock
Heidi Swapp Color Shine - Citron

*you can use any leftover bits from your Piccolo Accents and frames. I save all my bits & pieces in a reclosable baggie and pick through them when I need something.

Here are the basics:

1. Spray colors. Let dry (or use a heat tool to speed it up!)
2. Use Found Items to add interest.
3. Paint edges using 3D Enamel Gel.
4. Emboss butterfly and 'fly' using Embossing Enamels.
5. Stamp 'high'.
6. Distress edges using Vintage Photo.

Globecraft & Piccolo - Altered Frame & Embossed Accents

This project has been sitting on the back burner for a few weeks now, but until recently it didn't really come together. At first I couldn't decide which Embossing Enamels to use, then it was deciding which Accents to use (there are so many choices!) - there was always something not quite right...have you ever had that much trouble getting a project to work?

Today the stars aligned and I love this mini frame!

"Together is my Favorite Place to Be"

I wanted something vintage-ish, clean not grungy. Worn and well loved was what I had in mind...

Let's get our supplies!

Globecraft & Piccolo:
Butterfly & Flowers Accents (A153) (or you could use Tiny Hearts, Flowers, Stars & Flourishes A144 or any other set with a small heart)
Vintage Lock & Keys Necklace (CA125)

Thrifted silver frame
Foam tape
cotton (crochet) thread
scrap patterned paper
heart punch
printed sentiment

The How To:
This project is pretty straightforward. Begin by dabbing on some Embossing Powder Adhesive Fluid and then emboss the frame with the Gilded Rose Gold. Don't be too precise. You want to leave areas unembossed. Tip: once the metal frame begins to get hot, you can dip the frame into a pile of the embossing powder without the adhesive.

I didn't have any more tiny hearts, so I used a small flower accent and snipped 2 petals into the shape of a heart. The book board cuts cleanly with scissors.

Using the adhesive fluid and embossing enamels, emboss, the heart, the lock and the key 2-3 times. Tip: to get the texture on the lock - melt 2 layers, while the surface of the lock is still hot, dip the face of the accent into the embossing powder. Heat only just enough to make the powder stick.

Punch out a heart from the scrap paper. Print your sentiment and then trim out the words. (I used a free font: Jane Austen for a little old world writing.) Distress all the edges using Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Adhere the papers and accents using the Glastique. Use a small brush for the word strips.

I wanted the frame to have a kind of shadow box effect, so I layered foam strips. (When I was putting the frame together, I had forgotten to account for the thickness of the glass, so I ended up only using 2 strips of foam.)

String up the key and place one string between the foam strips and the other string over the top. Secure both strings on the back of the white cardstock.

Put the frame back together. That's it!

Stop by every day to see more Design Team inspiration! Don't forget to leave a little comment love and let us know how we're doing!

Inky hugs,
Angi

Globecraft & Piccolo - Altered Clothes Pins

Now that Spring is officially here, I have been on the lookout for fun ideas that involve plants and pots and found a project that is definitely my kind of art - it involves creativity, things I have around the house and can be made in a short amount of time!

Isn't this a great planter?!

Let's get our supplies!

Globecraft & Piccolo:

Tuna can, cleaned & dry
19 clothes pins (or enough to go around your can)
Various word stamps
Archival Ink Jet Black
Distress Stain Tattered Rose
Distress Stain Picket Fence
Distress Ink Vintage Photo

The How To:
Start by pouncing the Adhesive Fluid around a small portion of the can. Because the can is nonporous, the fluid will bead up and create your random splatter. Easy peasy! Roll the bottle of embossing enamel. Sprinkle on the enamel and heat. (Be careful! The can will get HOT!)

While you are waiting for the can to cool, work on the clothes pins. I dabbed some Distress Stain in Tattered Rose. (My pins were coated, so they didn't absorb the color well. Next time I will lightly sand the clothes pin faces.)

Dab Adhesive Fluid only onto the bottom portion of the pins. Melt the powder and set pins aside to cool. Love the silver in the Temple Stone powder and how it all comes together now!

Lightly swipe the Picket Fence Distress Stain across the pins and let dry. Using your favorite blender, apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the sides.

Using your favorite word stamps & Archival Ink, add words to the pins. (I used stamps from Studio Calico, 7 gypsies, Stampin' Up!, Studio G...) Let dry.

At this point, I adhered Piccolo Accents with Glastique. After the embellishments dried I added Glastique to the tops of the accents to add shine and durability.

Time for the 3D Enamel Gels! Apply the gel to one or two of the small portions of the pin. Let dry.

If I decide not to use this as a planter, I can easily use this as a pencil/pen/marker cup. If I add magnets to the pins I could use this on a metal board or refrigerator...oh the possibilities!

Love the gloss of the 3D gels on the clothes pin tips!

Use number stamps for special dates, times, addresses...

Even if the whole stamp doesn't fit onto the clothes pin, you might be able to use! See the chevrons?

I think I'm going to have to make a few more of these to contain the mint!

Inky hugs,
Angi
