Globecraft & Piccolo - Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful Mixed Media Card

 Welcome to the weekend! Are you looking forward to getting your crafty on?!

Today I have a mixed media card using embossing enamels and inks that results in fun and color!

To make this card, you will need a few items from the G&P shop:
Enamel Powder Adhesive Fluid
Embossing Enamel Powders: Girls Night Out, Micro Gold, Vintage Silver
Art Stencil Fancy Flowers AS46003
Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves, Shabby Shutters, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade

watercolor paper
scraps of white cardstock and vellum cardstock

Let's get started!

If your stencil has a backside, flip it so the backside is facing up. (This is really important if you have numbers or letters that need to go a certain way.)

Dab the Distress Inks directly onto the stencil. I find it's better to start with the light colors, moving up to the darker ones. No rush here.

When you like the distribution of color, spritz with water, flip over onto the watercolor paper. Use a couple of napkins or a papertowel to press and dab the stencil. This prevents the water from pooling into open areas of your stencil.

This technique has varying results depending upon the amount of water you use. Do you want muted or defined?

Stamp your sentiment on the vellum and use the top photo for placement. That's it!

Globecraft & Piccolo - Too Much Happy Keychain

Start with a Rectangle Acrylic Craft Charm. For this project use a piece of kraft cardstock and stamp it with a woodgrain stamp (I used Stampin' Up! Truly Grateful). Place the charm on top of the woodgrain image and trace around. Cut out the charm shape. Squeeze Glastique Gloss onto the charm and lay the cutout on top. Flip over the charm and move the cardstock and Glastique around making sure to get all of the cardstock surface. Use a slightly dry baby wipe to wipe the excess from the edges.

At this point, you can stamp a fun sentiment using an ink formulated for nonporous surfaces, such as Ranger's Archival Ink in Jet Black directly onto the charm (I used Stampin' Up! Yippee-Skippee!). Let dry.

While the ink and adhesive are drying, get your tiny hearts and stars. I chose my elements according to my kids. Using tweezers and a bit of patience, emboss those tiny bits using Embossing Powder Adhesive and your favorite Embossing Enamel Powders! I used Poodle Skirt and Deep Blue Sky.

When the ink and Glassique are dry, it's time to give your charm some faux soldering! Pour some Vintage Copper Enamel Powder onto a scrap sheet of paper. Dab the Embossing Powder Adhesive onto the edges of the charm and then dip the edges into the powder.

Heat with a heat gun and when the powder has melted and looks like liquid, dip the edges in the powder, again. Heat. Repeat until you get some overflow of melted powder onto the front and back of the charm. Let cool completely.

Once cooled, add the tiny hearts and stars using Glastique. You can also coat the charm with a thin layer of Glastique or use the Instant UV Resin to make your charm more durable.

Sentimental Sundays #177 - Happy Birthday: Shaped or Easel Card

Hello, Friends!

It's the 3rd week of the Sentimental Sundays' Month Long Birthday Celebration!!! I'm happy to say, my studio is finally mostly organized! Still workingo on the stamps... (If you've ever had to move your studio/craft room, you know how difficult it can be to really work on a creative project when you don't know where your tools and bits and pieces are!)

Have you ever taken a creative break? Because of our summer move, settling into the new house & area, the broken pipes in the wall, these last few months have been a necessary hiatus from most things crafty, colorful and inky. Insert sad face...and clean fingers.

Okay, back to the pretty stuff! Shaped or easel card...couldn't make up my mind, so why not both?! I used the Tim Holtz tag die and cut 3 tags. After some fiddling and scoring (what would I do without my Scor-Pal and ATG?) I had myself a tag-shaped easel card!

Still trying to figure out where the lightbox will go...

It did take longer than usual, more do-overs and a few more pieces of chocolate, but Boy, did it feel good to put ink on paper!

Card Makin' Mamas - No Patterned Paper

Time for another Card Makin' Mamas challenge inspiration! This is the last week to link up your card using NO PATTERNED PAPER...

Challenge? Yes.

I love a challenge and since this one allows me to use whatever my creative heart desires, I was up for it!

...the light is a bit off...the panel under the flowers is actually chocolate chip!

I've got a busy schedule (more on this subject later) and didn't have time to take pictures for a tutorial, but lucky you, I was inspired by this video. I have had this Stampin' Up! stamp (Inspired by Nature) since it came out...LOVE IT! It's such a versatile stamp and the other side has long beautiful blades of grass...they shouldn't have retired this one...anyhoo, I was so inspired by Tami's video I essentially CASEd the design, but not all the techniques! I changed up the colors and used the En Francais background stamp for the text.

Follow the video. What I did differently: to 'stain' the background' use blending tool and Crumb Cake to ink up background - leave no white, but vary depth of color. Trust me...leave no white. When you mist the paper, you'll be glad you didn't!

I also used En Francais with Versamark to ink up the card base.

Here's a more 'loved' version of the panel...

This is just a card front. I'll attach it to a card base later. The last step with the coneflower panel was to lightly mist the back of the panel and then crumple it up! If this is your first time, I understand...you may feel uncomfortable, but JUST DO IT! Open it back up. Do you see areas that need more aging? Crumple the panel again, only this time be more conscientious about where and how you are folding, crushing, bending the paper to get the look you want. If you want the paper to be flattened, go ahead and iron it. The creases and folds will still be seen, but it will be easier to attach the panel.

I also tore the edges of the purple panel and used a distressing tool to soften them.
