Sentimental Sundays #177 - Happy Birthday: Shaped or Easel Card

Hello, Friends!

Enamel Dots, Bling, DIY Pennant

It's the 3rd week of the Sentimental Sundays' Month Long Birthday Celebration!!! I'm happy to say, my studio is finally mostly organized! Still workingo on the stamps... (If you've ever had to move your studio/craft room, you know how difficult it can be to really work on a creative project when you don't know where your tools and bits and pieces are!)

Have you ever taken a creative break? Because of our summer move, settling into the new house & area, the broken pipes in the wall, these last few months have been a necessary hiatus from most things crafty, colorful and inky. Insert sad face...and clean fingers.

Distress Inks, Mists, White Embossed Script
(En Francias is one of my most used Stampin' Up stamps - sorry, I think it's retired...)
So glad that's over! I hope to be able to stay in this house for y.e.a.r.s!

Okay, back to the pretty stuff! Shaped or easel card...couldn't make up my mind, so why not both?! I used the Tim Holtz tag die and cut 3 tags. After some fiddling and scoring (what would I do without my Scor-Pal and ATG?) I had myself a tag-shaped easel card!

Still trying to figure out where the lightbox will go...
It did take longer than usual, more do-overs and a few more pieces of chocolate, but Boy, did it feel good to put ink on paper!

Love seam binding with jute twine!

Card Makin' Mamas - Happy Birthday

Do you have stuff in your studio/craft room that you haven't even used, yet? I've been going through my supplies, organizing and taking a loose inventory and I rediscovered a brand new, never used roll of foil tape! While foil tape by itself is not too exciting, what happens when you work it with an embossing folder and alcohol inks? Well, see for yourself!

Love this image from Sassy Studio Designs - Steampunk Josephine! She's a little more racy than what you see here, but she worked beautifully as a cameo on my card. That lovely bow looks like the rest of her dress, doesn't it? (Want to know how to tie this multi-loop bow? Click here to watch the video.)

Josie is colored with Copics and aged to perfection using Vintage Photo and Black Soot with a few spritzes of water. Distressed the bow by spritzing with water, scrunching up the ribbon and then letting it air dry. Rayon seam binding is still one of my favorite types of ribbon.

Fabulous, right?

Used a texture hammer to distress the metal brads.

Used Glossy Accents to embellish the googles.

Distress Stickles in Honey to add a little more glam to Miss Josie!

Copper embossing powder around the die cut frame and the large lace trim finish off this one of a kind piece! Hmmm...this one may have to grace my studio wall for a bit before it makes an appearance for someone's birthday...

Visit the Card Makin' Mamas Challenge Blog for more HAPPY BIRTHDAY inspiration and to link up your card. Can't wait to see what you've created!

Inky hugs,
Angi

Great Impressions - Cool Birthday!

(If you're here from the Great Impressions Stamps blog to see the 'Thanks Snow Much' tag, scroll down to the bottom of this post...)

Happy Thursday! Only 5 days till Christmas...and I'm sitting here typing up this post while a blizzard winds down outside my window! I love days like this where I can start a fire, grab some hot cocoa and take the time to get some crafting done. Even though we are in the last stretch of the holidays for 2012, I'm already looking ahead to 2013 birthdays.

Did you see my Great Impressions Stamps post last week? I used Snow Adorable (E774) on a cute Christmas tag and mentioned how versatile snowmen images can be. Frosty (G476) is another fun snowman image to use on some winter projects...

Frosty (G476)

My youngest daughter will be turning 10 in January and wants a snowman/rainbow party! This is quite the change from the normal glittery princess event, but I like a challenge!

I started with a sketch from Retro Sketches for the birthday card...

I used a few dies, embossing folders, a little bit of distressing and my favorite Smash tape! And, of course, some clear glitter for the snowy parts...and I couldn't leave a nekkid inside...

And it's Swirly Happy Birthday (E367) paired with Snow Adorable (E774)! Such a cute stamp. I couldn't resist putting him on the inside. He makes me smile!

(Thank You tag below!)

Thank Yous are always an important part of birthday celebrations around my house. These will look so sweet tied to the goodie bags! Since I colored the snowman with Copics, I backed the tag with another white tag stamped with lines for writing in Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. Can you see the glitter? There may not be princesses, but there's still going to be lots of sparkle!

I printed the sentiment using the An Accidental Kiss font. Just think of the cute phrases you could use with the snowmen...

Warm Winter Wishes
Friends Warm the Heart
You're the Coolest!
Sending You Warm Fuzzies! (use flock on the hat & scarf!)
You're Snow Wonderful!
Some of My Best Friends are Flakes

I'm sure you know some I haven't mentioned. I would love to hear them!

Next week will be my last post for Great Impressions Stamps. Until then, Happy Holidays!

Inky hugs,

Card Makin' Mamas - Fall is Here!

I just spent the last 20 minutes typing up this post...sigh...clicked 'save', left the page to check on a link, came back and...poof!...the post was gone! So frustrating...
I think the blog move may be closer than I thought!

Anyhoo...I've got some good news to share!
I'm one of the new Design Team members of the
Challenges are posted on Friday, twice a month with an inspiration post in between.

The current challenge "Fall is Here" is sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps.

Isn't she feisty? Definitely my version of a "Red Hat" lady!
She's been colored with Copics and glossy accents have been added to her glasses and the blade.

Gatefold card (did you expect anything else? lol) held closed by her scythe. Sparkle added with Spica pens to the cake frosting, flowers and her shoes.
Check out the sentiment...so true, right?!

Stop by the CMM blog, check out the other DT members projects and then play along! Looking forward to seeing your projects!

Inky hugs,
Angi

Great Impressions DT - Sweet Birthday Wishes

This week I thought I was on top of stuff - finished my projects early and all I had to do was write up the posts...then I went to check the calendar to see what was next...oops! I designed my card using next week's theme.

Go figure. Well...at least my project's finished for next week!

So, say 'hello' to the pinch hitter...

This Skunk stamp is adorable, isn't it? Super easy to color with the new Summer Distress Inks and a water brush.

Clear embossing powder adds nice dimension without taking away from the image.

This Flourish Birthday Wish stamp has become a go-to stamp - love the swirls.

(The patterned paper was from my stash...I think it's a Bo Bunny Press paper...)

Okay...there's just a few days left to enter the monthly challenge...finish up your project & link it up!
