Globecraft & Piccolo - Hello Darling Embossed Card

Happy Monday!

Today I have a card to share with a few fun techniques for you to try. Click the picture and take a closer look at the awesome flower!

Here's what you'll need:

Globecraft & Piccolo Supplies:
Enamel Powder Adhesive Fluid (this should be a given! I do love G&P Enamels!)
Embossing Enamel Platinum
Embossing Enamel Poodle Skirt
Embossing Enamel Ultra Thick Clear
scrap piece of G&P bookboard (this can be any leftover piece)
3D Enamel Gel Coral Pearl
Glastique Glossy
Vintage Corner Flourishes (A157)

Other:
Background stamp (Stampin' Up!)
Flower (Prima)
Sentiment Stamp (Studio G)
Archival Ink Jet Black (Ranger - or any permanent black ink)
Melon Mambo Classic Ink (Stampin' Up!)
Vintage Photo Distress Ink (Ranger)
Rayon Seam Binding, white

Let's get started!
Dab the Adhesive Fluid over the flower petals. Coat with the Ultra Thick Clear Embossing Enamel. I found using a paintbrush works well to get adhesive into all the little nooks and crannies. Repeat until the petals are coated.

Love this.

What a difference! The coated flower looks like vintage plastic. What an easy way to get a different look from your flowers...

Take the Coral Pearl 3D Enamel Gel and scoop a bit out onto a craft mat. Add about the same amount of water (less if you want more color) and mix on the mat. Add the ribbon, smooshing (yes, that's a technical term!) it around until it's saturated. Place on a napkin. You can dry the ribbon with a heat tool (held far away) or a hair dryer. Be careful not to get too close & melt the ribbon!

The ribbon color lightens up when dry. Using the 3D Enamel Gels gives the limp seam binding some body and allows it to keep it's shape without making it difficult to work with.

The background was the usual dab on some adhesive, melt the powder.

Have you been keeping your scrap bits - the small and the large? I keep ALL of mine in a small container. (hint, hint...there may be some future ideas for those tiny pieces of craftiness!)

Edge the scrap piece with the adhesive and sprinkle on some Platinum and a little pinch of Poodle Skirt.

Finish up the card by layering the pieces and then using the Glasstique on top of the Accent pieces.

Globecraft & PIccolo - Faux Stained Glass Take 2

Happy Monday!

Last week I shared with you the Faux Stained Glass card using Enamel Powder Ultra Thick Clear. What I didn't share was my first attempt using the Gloss Glastique! Have you ever had an idea and somehow it didn't quite work out the way you wanted? My first idea with the Faux Stained Glass was to glue the accent to the vellum cardstock and fill in with the 3D Enamel Gels and the Glastique. When it was dried, the vellum had wrinkled and the gel had moved with it. Ugh.

While it wasn't too terrible, I wasn't able to use it on the card...but I did save it and made the tag! So, here's what you need to make one, too:

*Floral Eggs

*3D Enamel Gel Daffodil Pearl

*3D Enamel Gel Rose Pearl

Flourish from Keys to My Heart Accents (A114)

3D Enamel Gel Titanium White

3D Enamel Gel Satin Gold

3D Enamel Gel Turquoise

Other Supplies:
Distress Stain Vintage Photo

word/sentiment/type stamp

washi tape

seam binding

non-stick craft mat

spray bottle

Start by gluing the accent to the vellum cardstock and filling in with the gel and Glastique. Let dry.

Spritz the mat with water. Dot on the gels (white, gold, turquoise) and add tiny dots of Glastique. Lay the tag on top of the dots and turn the tag while it is still facedown. Lift the tag, reposition and repeat until all the gels have been picked up onto the tag. Let dry.

Once dry, stamp over the tag with a permanent ink and your type stamp. Let dry. (When dry the areas with the gels and Glastique will be non-porous. Notice the sheen and subtle shimmer!)

Trim off the excess vellum. Use the E6000 to adhere all of the pieces to the tag. Trim off the excess frame and save it for another project.

Apply 2 thin, uneven coats of Titanium White to the frame. After it's dry, swipe Vintage Photo over the frame. Let dry.

Color the flourish using the Rose Pearl gel. Attach to the frame using the Glastique. Add bits of matching washi tape. Using your finger, wipe the Rose Pearl gel along the edges of the tag. Make dots of Titanium White 'here and there'.

Tie on the seam binding to finish it off!

It wasn't until after I started this project that I realized that I don't have any of the green gels...but I will be taking care of that this week and will go back and fill in the leaves. The Avocado looks like a pretty spring green! Which gels do you like best?

Globecraft & Piccolo - Faux Stained Glass

Have you ever wanted to create a design in stained glass? Beautiful, translucent colors outlined in silver or black? Me, too!

Today's project is an easy faux stained glass. When I saw the Floral Eggs in the New Spring Release, they reminded me of stained glass hanging in the kitchen window when I was growing up and I knew what I would be creating next!

Gather your Globecraft & Piccolo supplies:

*Floral Eggs

*French Oval Frame Kit (we're using the decorative frame)

*3D Enamel Gel Daffodil Pearl

3D Enamel Gel Mars Black

Enamel Powder Ultra Thick Clear

Enamel Powder Mossy Glen

Enamel Powder Adhesive

Glastique

Other supplies:

Tim Holtz Die Baroque

Tim Holtz Die Mini Baroque

Grid stamp

Vellum Cardstock

Foam adhesive

Ranger Melting Pot

Copics in your favorite daffodil colors

Floral Eggs is a set of 15 - 3 of each gorgeous design. Choose your favorite and go over the design with the Mars Black 3D Enamel Gel. Let dry.

Warm up the Melting Pot. Place a craft sheet in the tray and lay the Floral Egg on top. Sprinkle the Ultra Thick Clear Enamel Powder liberally over the piece. Try to keep most of the powder over the egg, but don't worry if it gets outside the design.

Let the powder melt.

Turn off the Melting Pot and let cool. Gently press on the edges to flatten the egg, if necessary, as it cools. Once completely cool, remove the egg from the craft sheet. Use scissors to trim off any edges. 

These tiny fingers belong to my sweet girl!

Color with Copics.

Using the Daffodil Pearl 3D Enamel Gel, trace over the design on the decorative frame from the French Oval Frame Kit. Set aside and let dry.

Die cut the front of the card base using the Mini Baroque die. Die cut a green panel and the vellum cardstock using the Baroque die. Cut out the middle of the green panel using the Mini Baroque.

Adhere panels using the photo for reference.

Using Glastique, apply a thin layer to the back of your egg and adhere to the vellum. Decorate with pearls and your favorite sentiment!

Globecraft & Piccolo - Hello Sunshine Mixed Media Sign

I love finding ways to repurpose something that is no longer needed as is. I found a Halloween sign in the clearance section of a fabric store for $.50 and decided it needed a Spring makeover...using items from the Globecraft & Piccolo new Spring Release!

The new items that I'm using on today's mixed media sign:

Here is the BEFORE picture:

Let's get started! Begin by applying 2-3 thin coats of gesso using an old plastic card. (I have found this to be The Best Way Ever for applying thin coats of paint and gesso!)  I applied 3 coats, leaving marks with the edges of the card for texture. Let each layer dry.

Spray with Dylusion Ink Sprays and then spray lightly with water to move and diffuse the ink. Use a heat gun to dry the ink as you go along. This helps to leave light texture and interesting patterns.

Once dry, use the Archival Ink and your type stamp and randomly tap the words onto your sign.

Isn't this new butterfly so pretty?! Using the fine line applicator tip and the 3D Gels (be sure to rinse the tip between colors or make sure to have a few more on hand) to color the butterfly wings and body. Let dry.

There are *4* different sizes of flowers in the Stacey's Stacking Flowers package (and you get a total of 24 flowers). These flowers are fabulous! They have detailing on the petals and *you can even bend them up to give them more dimension.

*I brushed on a thin coat of the 3D Gel in Titanium White to strengthen the petals. After they dried I held the flower by the center and gently pushed the petals up.

I used a smattering of Aged White Enamel on the petals, too.

Under the flowers and butterfly are scrap circles of white cardstock that are hand-torn. After gluing the circles down, I used various oil pastels to color the edges and traced over it with my finger to soften the color. Draw stems and trace over with your finger.

All that is left is to stamp your sentiment with the Archival Ink. Well, there you have it, my crafty friends - a beautiful Spring Mixed Media sign to brighten your day!
